GPS NavStar - Testimonials

Pete Turner (Meditrans, Toronto, ON, Canada)

Meditrans is proudly guided by GPS NavStar!

John Stead (FundDealerNet® Corporation, ON, Canada)

The Laptop-Navstar is far superior than any other I have tried when it comes to "ease of use while traveling". The support is "outstanding" and the product is my "Ultimate GPS Solution".

As of 01/02/2003 I no longer use the Microsoft "Streets & Trips" for navigation. I have switched to the superior "Laptop-Navstar" which is a talking GPS solution utilizing Microsoft MapPoint.

"I am in a service industry and my line of work takes me to very rural areas as well as metropolitan. In the past I relied on verbal directions as well as stopping to ask directions, when I could find someone to ask. Now I always know where I am, and how far it is to the next stop. NavStar has literally saved me hours in each workday. I have increased my daily revenue because I am able to see more customers instead of wasting the same time trying to find the next customer. I highly recommend NavStar to anyone, whether it is work related or just leisure travel. You will always know where you are and where you are going. Thanks!"

I drove around yesterday in Sherbrooke to try your software (NavStar). It is a fantastic software.

I have one word to describe this new software: invaluable.

I travel a lot for my work and often land in strange cities late at night. I usually have to drive another two to four hours before I get to my planned destination. Your software has helped me tremendously.

I had been using MapPoint, (combined with a GPS guidance system), but I found it had a lot of shortcomings for travelers. Your software, with its one-second updates and precise navigating features, is a real boon for someone like me.

The technical support has been excellent. There were minor bugs in the new release, but they were quickly resolved by your technical department.

Glen Braxton (Health System Acct. Mgr, Sysmex America, USA)

I have been using Mappoint 2002 for sales territory contact management and routing.  It has superior contact import and DLL linking functions but lacks a fully functional GPS interface.

After doing some research I chose GPS Navstar and Delorme Streets Atlas USA 2003 plus, because each has its own special features.  I use Delorme with the additional Nation Wide phone listing to look up local establishment and phone numbers but not for routing.

GPS Navstar combined with MS Mappoint is my primary routing program. I use it to plan all my trips.  I like the GUI and maps better than Delorme.  Its cleaner and has more detail. Being able to import Sales contacts and assign Icons based on Sales status gives me a graphical overview of my 6 state areas.

Technical - Customer support at GPS Navstar is excellent.  Specifically the immediate response via Email communication. They were able to answer all my questions quickly.  I have even asked for additional features to be added and within one month there was an update.  That is unheard of in the software industry.

Upgrading to the latest version is extremely easy. You do need to have admin rights to do the first install but after that any user can update by just replacing 2 files.  With a price of $50 it can't be beat.  I highly recommend this product for all Mappoint 2002 users.

"I have purchased several off-the-shelf navigation software packages and only Microsoft Streets & Trips has decent Canadian coverage.  This software is built using Microsoft MapPoint, which is more of a GIS developer suite.  Using Microsoft MapPoint as the engine, I am using GPS NavStar, a product developed in Ontario.  It runs over top of Microsoft MapPoint and operates in a similar manner as Microsoft Streets & Trips, though it is extremely stripped down, for use in vehicles.  The benefit of using this software is that when navigating, you are presented with a large screen with an arrow illustrating your next direction.  (Straight, bear right, etc.) and distance to waypoint.  It also uses speech synthesis to guide you, and provides periodic updates such as ETA, distance to destination, etc.  The software is approximately $100 CAD but they sometimes have it on sale for $60.  It does require Microsoft MapPoint, though, which can cost $300 CAD.  This you can purchase through them or from anyone else who sells it.  I am using it in my current setup and it works perfectly.

My current configuration is this:"
