Q1: What is GPSTrack (Passive)?
A1. GPSTrack (Passive) is a state of the art hardware and software solution for fleet and productivity management. It offers complete fleet analysis and management, as well as reports and productivity enhancement tools.

GPSTrack (Passive) gives you the power of GPS tracking technology at down to earth prices. Whether a corporate or small business, you can take advantage of the benefits of advanced satellite vehicle tracking technology and gain control of your most valuable assets - vehicles and drivers.
Q2. What problems does GPSTrack (Passive) solve?
A2. It solves the administrative complexity and high cost of controlling vehicles and drivers.
  • Inefficiency of complicated daily work route planning and fleet dispatching.
  • The uncertainty of what is happening in the field in terms of driver and vehicle productivity and utilization.
  • Vehicle abuse resulting from bad driving habits which can lead to high vehicle maintenance costs and accidents.
  • Unscheduled routes and deliveries which can cause unnecessary mileage, time wastage and increase the risk of vehicle theft.
  • Unauthorized usage of the vehicle for private purposes and moonlighting by employees

These are issues which, if not monitored and controlled can result in substantial increases in your operating costs.
Q3: What questions will GPSTrack (Passive) answer for my business?
A3.
  • How much time are my drivers spending at customer sites?
  • How much time and how much fuel am I losing from idling engines?
  • Are my drivers speeding and where?
  • How long and how far are my vehicles traveling - i.e. Am I making full use of expensive assets?
  • What time are my drivers starting work and what time are they completing their shifts?
  • How many minutes of pre and post trip time is there?
  • Are my drivers arriving on time for their deliveries?
  • Are my drivers making unauthorized stops?
  • Are my drivers running on time throughout their scheduled routes?
Q4: Who will benefit from the GPSTrack (Passive) system?
A4. GPSTrack (Passive) system can be used to monitor and manage any vehicle fleet.
Some examples:
  • Trucking
  • Delivery
  • Rental
  • Service
  • Sales
  • Snow ploughing
  • Contracting
  • Recycling
  • Waste Management

GPSTrack (Passive) system can also run off a battery pack, thus enabling the user to track:
  • Rail trucks
  • Cargo Carriers
Q5: How does GPSTrack (Passive) work?
A5. GPSTrack (Passive) system consists of two parts: GPS data logger units (hardware) and GPSTrack software. When a driver is doing service trips, turning the power of a GPS data logger on will record vehicle positions, speeds, moving headings and times derived from GPS with a predefined time interval. Once the driver finished the trip, the data recorded in the vehicle unit is downloaded into a PC via a utility program. The software allows the user to see the trips taken on a detailed map and to view instant reports that are generated for Microsoft Word and Excel software.
Q6: What are the initial investment and onging costs to run a GPSTrack (Passive) system?
A6. The investment cost of a GPSTrack (Passive) system depends on how many GPS data logger units you need. This full license fee for one installation of GPSTrack (Passive) is $500USD.  The price of a GPS Trip Recorder or data logger is typically from $120 to $500 USD. If you need more than 10 units, please ask us for a discount. Other than the software license fee and the hardware, there are no monthly fees and extra costs.
Q7: What makes GPSTrack (Passive) different from any other vehicle tracking system?
A7. GPSTrack (Passive) is a low cost system with NO monthly fees. It delivers 90% of the features of any real-time system at a fraction of the cost. The vehicle unit is small and easy to install (as easy as just plug in the power cable). The powerful software is easy to use and allows managers to plan daily delivery route, tracking drivers' performances, estimate operating costs precisely and efficiently.
Q8: Why is GPSTrack (Passive) defined as a productivity solution for your business?
A8. GPSTrack (Passive) will not only help you to clamp down on vehicle abuse and costs but it will also encourage the drivers to enhance their productivity. Fuel usage can be halved in some instances by simply assessing the driver's routes, unnecessary stopping points, idling times and or over-revving. GPSTrack provides the user with:
  • Mileage reports
  • Driver activity reports
  • Stoppages reports
  • Missing Data reports
  • Trip Summary report
  • Trip Dtails report
  • Delivery or customer visit reports

And we can add customized reports according to your specifications and requirements.
Q9: What are the differences between GPSTrack (Passive) and a Real-time tracking systems?
A9. With GPSTrack (Passive) you have no ongoing monthly costs. Over time it will save your company thousands of dollars. Another difference is the data transfer method from the vehicle to the monitoring point (PC). GPSTrack (Passive) uses a data storage to save the data first and then download it to your PC whereas a real-time system will use a cellular, radio or satellite medium to transmit the data. This is why you need to pay a monthly fee for real time tracking systems based on cellular or satellite network. You will not need a real time system unless you need to continuously see where every vehicle is.
Q10: How easy is it to install GPSTrack (Passive)?
A10.

Hardware/In-Vehicle Unit: You just need to fix the unit and antenna with the attached tape on the dashborad and then plug the power adapter into the cigarette lighter.

Software: The windows based GPSTrack (Passive) software installs quickly with the click of a few buttons and the entire process should take no more than 10 minutes.
Q11: How often do I need to download data from the vehicle unit?
A11. The vehicle unit can store data from one day to months of active vehicle trip information (depending on usage and your data logger models). However, it is recommanded to download data every week.
Q12: How do I power the vehicle unit?
A12. If you use the vehicle unit only as a GPS data logger, you can just plug the power adapter into the cigrette headter for power supply. If you want to use the unit as a GPS receiver for a Laptop navigation program when it records data, you can plug the USB cable directly into the USB port of your laptop for power and data transmission.
